Who are we?

We’re a small team with a big passion for creating proper food that is delicious, nutritious and kind to the planet. Yom was founded in 2020 by Young MasterChef finalist Jordan Pomerance, who saw a gap in the market for clean, nourishing street food that goes beyond the usual falafel wrap or salad bowl.

At Yom, we do things differently. Whether you have a gluten allergy, follow a vegan diet, or just fancy a break from a greasy burger, we’ve got you covered. Our food is designed to make you feel good, and hit the spot every time.

Our story

Yom began in 2020, during lockdown, when Jordan started a takeaway service from his parents’ kitchen in Knebworth, Hertfordshire. With a new seasonal menu every month, we opened just two weekends at a time—but word spread fast. As demand grew, we knew it was time to take Yom on the road.

Investing in a mobile setup allowed us to bring our nourishing goodness to bigger events and festivals. Now, four years on, Yom proudly serves thousands of meals each year to hungry festival-goers, film crews, wedding guests, retreat attendees, and private diners.

What is Yom?

Our name, Yom, is inspired by two words: Yum and Om. Yum is what we want people to say when they take their first bite, and Om—a sacred Hindu symbol—represents the essence of the universe, truth, and pure consciousness. That’s exactly what Yom stands for: food that nourishes the mind, body and soul.

We’re a small business built on quality and sustainability. From our ingredients to our packaging, we take pride in sourcing the very best, ensuring every meal is as good for the planet as it is for you.

Young MasterChef

In 2023, our founder, Jordan, made history as the first vegan chef to reach a UK MasterChef final. He had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete in the first season of BBC Three’s Young MasterChef, battling through 10 intense challenges and showcasing his skills to the judges.

Up against some of the country’s best home cooks aged 18-25, Jordan stood out as the only contestant cooking entirely plant-based—proving that vegan food can be just as bold, exciting, and creative as any other cuisine.

Meet the founder

Hello, I’m Jordan, the creative force behind Yom. I’m 24 years old and I’ve been cooking professionally since the age of 16, learning my craft in kitchens across Hertfordshire. My love for cooking truly began at North Herts College in Hitchin, where I realised that food came naturally to me—it was the first thing I felt truly good at.

In my late teens, I became passionate about good, healthy food, understanding firsthand how what we put into our bodies affects how we feel and perform. That realisation led me to create a street food experience that’s as nutritious as it is delicious—food that fuels, excites, and satisfies.
